Wonderful sign doodling by @coltbowden

“This weekend I had a few hours to sit through a confernce meeting, so I brought along the doodle book, and sharp pencil.. I started a little sign saying and then another and another, and before I knew it, I had filled up 9 (small) pages! I’ve been really into Steve Powers’ & Jeff Canhams’ sign work with catchy sayings on them.”

Would love to buy some prints!

Copenhagen Typography I

I’m spending the week in Copenhagen and since I want to start with sign painting I decided to do a little research.
So I’m wandering the streets taking pictures of nice signs with words, numbers and icons in them.
Here’s a little excerpt from today’s walk around Vesterbro’s Værnedamsvej.

This made my day yesterday. UP THERE - a documentary about mural painters in NYC

Would love to paint one as well but until I have figured out how to get over my fear of heights I’ll just start with the walls my appartment.

This reminded me of Margaret Kilgallen’s hand-made signs: painted BBC headlines

Makes me wanna do wall paintings, too. Haven’t tried yet, but it’s probably really hard and really fun. Ripo
